Reaching Your Goal Weight? Here’s What to Do Next

Congratulations! If you’ve reached your target weight, you’ve accomplished something amazing. Whether you’ve been using weight loss medication for months or just started seeing results, this is a big milestone worth celebrating. But you might be wondering—what happens now.

The good news is that your journey doesn’t stop here. Keeping the weight off is just as important as losing it, and we’re here to support you in maintaining your results long-term.

Combining Weight Loss Injections with Muscle Building

Once you reach your goal weight, your body naturally adjusts to this new phase. That’s why suddenly stopping your medication isn’t a good idea—it can make it harder to maintain your progress.

Instead, many people continue with a Mounjaro maintenance dose. This helps keep your weight stable while allowing your body to adjust.

What Is a Maintenance Dose?

A maintenance dose is the amount of medication you need to keep your weight steady. It’s different for everyone, and finding the right dose might take some small adjustments. Here’s how it works:

✔️ If you’re happy with your weight – You may continue on your current dose. If you notice any unexpected changes, we can help you adjust.

✔️ You haven’t quite reached your goal – You may need to continue increasing your dose under medical guidance to get to your ideal weight.

✔️ If you’re still losing weight – You might need to lower your dose (also known as “titrating down”) until your weight stabilizes.

How to Safely Adjust Your Dose

Gradually lowering your dose is the safest way to transition into maintenance. If you and your doctor decide it’s time to reduce, a step-down approach (e.g., 15mg → 12.5mg → 10mg) can help ensure a smooth transition.

Never stop your medication suddenly. This can lead to unwanted side effects and make it harder to maintain your results.

Can You Get a Maintenance Prescription?

If you’re already a CheqUp customer, we can continue prescribing your medication—even if you’ve reached your goal weight. However, if your BMI falls below 22, we may need to check it’s safe for you to continue.

If you’re new to CheqUp and looking for a maintenance dose, we’ll need to understand your previous weight loss history and medication use before prescribing. However, if our prescribers can see evidence of your previous weight loss journey, we should be able to prescribe to you with a BMI under 30. At this time, we’re unable to prescribe to people with a BMI below 25 but we continue to review this.

Using Your Medication Pens Correctly

Your medication is licensed for weekly use only, and it’s important to stick to this schedule.

⚠️ Do not alter the amount dispensed by the pen (e.g., trying to take half a dose). This is not safe or effective.

⚠️ Do not “spread” doses out (e.g., taking a higher dose every two weeks instead of weekly). This goes against the medication’s approved guidelines and may reduce its effectiveness.

Following the prescribed weekly dose is the best way to maintain your progress safely. If you have any concerns, speak to our team—we’re here to help.

Final Thoughts: Your Long-Term Success

Reaching your goal weight is an incredible achievement, but the real success is keeping it off for good. We’re here to help you stay on track, adjust your medication if needed, and feel confident in your long-term health.
